Of all the ghastly diseases that plague the citizens of this world, Cancer is the deadliest, ugliest and the most widespread.

God forbid, it should never happen to anyone. The insanely tough chemotherapy sessions and the incessant hair fall are just a few of the many troubles which cancer indicts.

In the light of such great difficulties, it will be truly miraculous if someone comes out of the disease unhurt; unhurt not just physically but also mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

I Inspire is the story of one such individual who had courageously braved cancer not once but twice within a span of a few years.

Neerja Malik was a born believer. Spirituality which was in a way introduced to the young Neerja by her beloved Nani runs deep in her veins. Her Nani who lived in the then serene and peaceful Kashmir was the biggest gift to the young Neerja.

Little Neerja never knew how the ten treasures that her Nani helped her discover will make her sail smooth through the turbulent waters of her life.

In this book, Neerja Malik with the help of Megha Bajaj pens down the journey of her life – how she grew up, what all she held dear as a child, how she met and married the man of her life, how she braved cancer, how she birthed her two little angels, and finally how she came about to become a source of guidance and inspiration for patients suffering from cancer.

I Inspire is an excellent read for anyone who is looking at a real-life and practical source of inspiration as Neerja very candidly discusses the worst years of her life and how she sailed through by never letting go of hope.

Throughout her cancer years, she continued to believe in God and never doubted him even once. That along with blessings and support of her friends and family delivered her from the evil disease.

The best thing about I Inspire is the fact that it is outrageously honest and candid.

The beautiful and very visual description of the author’s childhood is also good and so is the fact that the book does achieve what its sets out to achieve at the start i.e. it truly inspires the individuals who read it.

The writing style is personal and casual and I liked the way the words instantly make a connection with the readers.

All in all, I Inspire was a decent read and I recommend it to my non-fiction loving readers. I end this review by rating this book three and a half out of five stars.
